JOIN US EACH MONDAY AT 6:30 PM FOR WEEKLY TRAINING

Founded in 1967, the Salvo Volunteer Fire Department is the oldest department in the northern villages of Salvo, Waves, and Rodanthe. Our membership is entirely made up of volunteers who give generously of their time and efforts in order to protect the community. We are the first line of defence and the first responders for many types of incidents: structure fires, bush fires, gas leaks, traffic accidents, helicopter landings, assisting paramedics, stuck elevators, and many other issues that may arise. A more detailed history is located at the bottom of this page.

Being a tourist area, our population swells in the summertime, causing a high population density in an area with a very low year-round population. Our volunteers have to be extra alert during the summer months because of the increased risks.

We meet for training every Monday night, year-round, at 6:30 at the fire station.
